The broad Science Agenda of IOC and WESTPAC: from a Healthy Indo-Pacific to Global Sustainability
 
Dr. Ryabinin VLADIMIR, the current Exclusive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), is an outstanding climatologist and Engineer-Oceanographer. His valuable researches on ocean  dynamics,   ocean-climate  interaction 
and global circulation modelling have been significant contributions to the world’s ocean knowledge and management. He invented the first Soviet technology for weather prediction, parameterizations of physical processes in global circulation models, numerical schemes in fluid dynamics, bottom ice gouging, marine meteorological prediction system, and third generation wind-wave model.

For almost 40 years of his professional careers, Dr. Ryabinin has been strongly committing to address the global ocean and climate concerns and greatly developing international collaborations toward a healthy ocean and coasts. He had served as several senior positions in the world-class ocean and climate organizations such as the International Ocean Institute, the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).

Dr. Ryabinin has published almost 100 articles and publications on oceanography monograph, meteorology and climate. More recently, he is an author of the Global Environment Outlook (GEO5, 2012).
